Mrs. Aker

My name is Michelle Aker.

I have taught 1st Grade at Sanger since 2008.

I am a Hobbs native and have lived here my entire life. I graduated from Hobbs High in 2003 and started my college education at New Mexico Junior College. After transferring from the NMJC, I graduated from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, TX with my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (EC-4) in May 2008. My husband and I met my husband while at Wayland and we married in June 2009. We welcomed our first child, Suzi Marie, in June 2013 and we welcomed our second child, Hunter Michael, in July 2016.

After I started teaching, I decided to go back to school and get my Master's. I graduated from Eastern New Mexico University with my Master's Degree in  Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading in 2012.

I love working with children because they are so excited to learn new things. They are the best part of coming to work every day. I know that I had several educators in my life as a student who invested in me and helped me become the person and teacher I am today and a big reason why I wanted to be a teacher. I want to invest in every child's education that steps foot into my classroom and make some kind of a difference for them.
